Each of the In Bloom Committees strive to contribute to care of the environment, sustainability, social inclusion, life long learning and importantly, enhancement of quality of life.
Arising from this the aims are:
- to build community empowerment and capacity
- to work in partnership to protect and enhance the natural, built and cultural environment
- to assist develop lifelong learning
- to promote sustainable development and social inclusion
- to promote equal opportunities and innovation
The key areas of activity centre on:
- environmental improvements and conservation initiatives
- rehabilitating derelict sites and landscaping improvements
- promoting absence of litter, graffiti and dog fouling
- involving schools in environmental and educational projects
- heightening awareness of eco schools
- publicity and promotion on care of the environment
- landscaping and floral enhancement
- building confidence to broaden horizons and examine the scope of proposed activities in pursuit and support of Local Agenda 21
- ensuring Local Agenda 21 actions are given a higher profile and implemented at a local level with co-ordinated action plans appropriate to the local community
